Elissa's Visit

Hi friends!  I'm sorry I've been quiet since the Color Run.  Last week, Eliot's sister Elissa was here for a few days for her University of New England orientation!  The past two summers, Elissa has stayed with us for over a month and we've dubbed it "Camp Cady".  Eliot and I were excited to have her out for a quick visit, but we had a lot to cram into those few days.  Here's our shortened version of Camp Cady 2016:

Elissa arrived really late Monday, or really early Tuesday, depending on how you want to look at it.  Her connecting flight from Baltimore was delayed, so instead of arriving at 12:15 am, she got in to Portland at 1:22.  Then, by the time she got her luggage, it was 2:00 am.  We were back at our house around 2:30, and we all got to bed around 3:00 am.  Eliot and I had to work Tuesday, but thankfully she got a chance to sleep in!

Tuesday afternoon, Elissa hung out while I took a power nap after work.  Then, we met up with Eliot to go to dinner at one of Elissa's favorites- Longhorn Steakhouse.  She was thrilled to get her mac and cheese.  After, we went to Target to do some shopping before heading home.  It was an early night since we were all still exhausted.

Wednesday morning, I took Elissa over to her UNE orientation.  We checked her in, got her overnight housing assignment, and made sure her health and financial aid paperwork was all set.  We took her stuff to her room and I met her roommate before leaving the girls to start their day!  Then, I went home and got ready for work.

Thursday, Eliot picked Elissa up from orientation after work.  Then, they came over to my office.  We stayed after work so Elissa could meet Bear, the black lab who is at our office.  We played with him for a bit before heading over to Old Orchard Beach.  The beach has fireworks every Thursday during the summer so the timing was perfect.  We enjoyed the fireworks from the beach.  Afterwards, Eliot and Elissa split some Pier Fries and fried dough, while I had a Blizzard from Dairy Queen.

Friday, I had the day off so Elissa and I slept in until mid-morning and hung out at our house.  Elissa watched Camp on our DVR while I got a few business and blog prep things done.  Later in the afternoon, we met up with Eliot after work.  We grabbed a pizza at Amato's.  Then, the three of us went to the Saco Drive-In movie theater.  None of us had ever been to a drive in movie so it was a new experience.  We had a blast!

We saw a double feature of The BFG and Finding Dory.  We all enjoyed The BFG.  It started drizzling towards the end of the movie, but it cooled off.  After intermission, a lot of people left since it was raining.  We'd all seen Finding Dory already, so we weren't worried about a little rain.  We enjoyed the movie and it was nice to experience it at the drive in!  Eliot and I can't wait to go see more movies there!  Not only was it tons of fun, but for the three of us it was the equivalent to $2.50 per movie!  What a deal!

Sadly, all good things must come to an end.  Saturday morning, we got up early to make sure Elissa was all packed up.  Eliot and I also had to pack for our long holiday weekend.  We dropped Elissa off for her flight at noon and headed towards Bar Harbor for our 4th of July weekend adventure!  Camp Cady was super short this summer, but we're really looking forward to having Elissa here in Maine this fall!  °o°
