Anniversaries and Ear Hats and Soaps, Oh My!

Hey Friends!  It's been another eventful week!

As most of you know, our second wedding anniversary was this past Saturday.  We didn't do too much for it since we both had a lot of Etsy orders we've been trying to get done.  However, we did make the time to go out to one of our favorite restaurants: Longhorn Steakhouse.  It was definitely yummy.  Eliot stuck with his usual beer and a burger but I had a wonderful watermelon margarita, steak and mac & cheese... soooo good!  We also grabbed cake from the grocery store.  (I love any excuse to eat cake!)

I was busy last week with Happily Ever Hatter orders.  I've made a new record for myself: I finished six hats in one week!  I made 3 Anna ear hats and 3 Elsa ear hats!  I also designed an Elsa stretchy headband for an infant.  It was a busy week but I'm so glad to get all of these orders out!  I've felt so behind ever since I got sick a few weeks ago.  Eeyore even helped me package one of the boxes which was on it's way to Walt Disney World.  (Although, he tried to tape himself to the box in an effort to stow away.)

Eliot has been busy making soaps with his Etsy shop, Snowblade Creations.  He's had an order for a favors for a birthday party, fish extender gifts for a Disney cruise, and a huge wedding order of about 80 soaps!

We also mailed out a special package yesterday.  It's on it's way to a very special little girl named Scarlet.  She's going to find out this Saturday that she's going to Walt Disney World through Make A Wish.  Her Wish Granter ordered an Elsa ear hat from me, but Eliot and I wanted to spread some more Disney magic and pixie dust.  We also included four snowflake hair clips, four bubblegum scented Mickey Mouse soaps and one Olaf soap.  I can't wait to hear how her party goes this weekend!

My job has been going well.  We've been working on getting ourselves back up and running.  We've found a new office space.  I actually got to go with my boss to help with our interior finish selections yesterday.  We've picked the paint colors for the walls and door trim, the baseboard color and the carpet color.  We also decided which finishes she's going to order her new adjusting tables in.  It was really fun to help with finish selections!  It's been a while since I've done that!

Finally, I'm trying to make a list of the Happily Ever Hatter items I need to make myself over the next few weeks.  I'm planning on bringing a few different headbands to Walt Disney World for KeyCon!  I just started one pair today, but I have a lot to do!  I really need to get cracking on that!  I leave in 15 Days!  Woo-hoo!  °o°

Flashback Friday- Tigger VS Eeyore

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is Eliot's and my second wedding anniversary!  Time really flies!  In honor of the occasion, I thought that I'd do a special Flashback Friday.

A few nights before our wedding, Eliot and I had our Bachelor and Bachelortte Night in Downtown Disney.  Katie, Ryan and BJ created a Photo Scavenger Hunt for our wedding party and friends to do together after dinner!  They dubbed it Team Tigger (the ladies) vs Team Eeyore (the guys).  It was so much fun.  I'm so glad we have the photos from the scavenger hunt to remember all of the fun we had!

We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, so the scavenger hunt started there and went throughout all of Downtown Disney.  Here's a look at the fun:

Find a stranger with Mickey ears on and get a group photo with him/her.

Go to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique and get sprinkled! Take a photo of your sparkly hair.

Take a picture of your whole group modeling different variations of Mickey Ears.

Have a member dress in Disney's trendiest fashion and give a little catwalk (hint: TrenD)

Go up to a cast member and ask for a Disney sticker, stick it on the bride or groom and take a picture of the bride or groom with the cast member.

Take a photo of three group members running away from or encountering a T-Rex, rawr!

Take a family photo, try to blend in with the blocks.

Carol with your Disney Friends. Group shot!

In the end, it was quite the race to the finish.  Team Tigger ended up winning by one photo!  As Team Tigger's captain, I ended up winning a $25 Disney Gift Card, so that was pretty awesome!  (I wasn't expecting a prize!)

This is a great activity to do for wedding parties, but it would also be a lot of fun for a family reunion.  If you're interested in doing the Downtown Disney Photo Scavenger Hunt for yourself, I've created a PDF version of the rules we used.  You can download it here.

It was so much fun!  I'm hoping that we can do it again someday!  °o°

Hanging In

Hi Friends.  Well, this has certainly been quite the week.

I mentioned last week that the office of my new job was destroyed in a fire the night before I was supposed to start.  Thankfully, we've been able to save our paper client files which has been a miracle.  Everything else has basically been destroyed.  I've been over to my boss' house a few times to help clean up the client files. Tomorrow we're looking at new office spaces.  My new co-workers are really great and I already feel like I belong. Things are coming together, looking up and we're making the best of it.

In another turn of events, Eliot and I have also been really sick.  I've been fighting a sinus infection since last weekend, and today I'm finally feeling like myself again.  I'm coughing here and there, but the sinus pressure, runny nose and watery eyes are all gone.

I spent most of last week in bed, re-reading the Hunger Games series, re-watching the movies and taking naps.  (The official trailer for Mockingjay Part 1 is being released tomorrow!!!) The past few days, Eliot's had the stomach virus that I also had earlier last week.  Ugh. We can't seem to catch a break!

I've got some good news: my MagicBand and Magical Express documents came in the mail yesterday!  Only 25 more days until I leave for Walt Disney World!  I'm so excited. Now it really is starting to feel real!

Anyways, I should probably go get back to work.  I have a ton of hat orders to work on! I've gotten behind since I was sick but I wanted to let you all know that I'm hanging in. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and well wishes!  °o°

Just Keep Swimming

Well, today hasn't exactly gone as planned.  This was supposed to be a cheerful, upbeat post about how I have only one month until my trip to Walt Disney World.  It was also going to be the first day of my new position.  Unfortunately, things don't always go as planned and my job has temporarily been put on hold.  We've been displaced due to a three alarm fire that occurred at our office building last night.  As of right now, we don't know too much, only that we aren't allowed in the building yet.  I'm truly devastated for my boss and the other tenants in the building.

I'm not sure what the next few weeks will bring, but I'm going to try to focus on the positive side of things.  I do only have one month until my trip and I'm very excited about that.  I'm truly blessed to be able to go there to begin with.  Over the next month, I'm going to be pretty busy preparing for the trip but I've started getting a few things together.

I mentioned the other day that I customized my first ever MagicBand!  I still can't wait to receive it in the mail and to try it on.

I've started making a mental list of the things I need to pack.  I obviously need to bring the usual: comfy park clothes, sneakers, bathing suit, sunscreen, snacks, etc.  I'm still working out what I'm going to pack for outfits.  I always bring Disney themed clothing to wear in the parks.  Since I'm going to a conference this trip, I also need to bring business attire.  I'm currently leaning towards wearing one of my Mickey Mouse print dresses (from the Emporium in MK), leggings and a sweater.  Maybe I'll even put something together to Disneybound one day?

This is also my unofficial 30th birthday celebration trip.  Mom and Dad are helping to send me on my trip as part of my present.  I'd like to do something at Disney to celebrate my upcoming birthday.  I was thinking about getting a cake, but I think we're going to wait until my family is there in January.  Any other ideas Disney friends?

I'm currently thinking my birthday gift to myself will be to indulge a little bit.  Those of you who follow me on Pinterest know that I have a Disney Sweets board.  (I love them!!!)  I'm mentally preparing a list of treats to eat in my head: Olaf candy apple, Dole Whip, Mickey bar, ice cream, and as much dessert from the Fantasmic VIP Event that I can fit in my belly.  It's probably a good thing I'm running the Minnie 10K in January. I'll need to train to burn off all of the calories I'm going to eat at KeyCon! I runDisney so I can eat Disney!

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never had an alcoholic beverage at Disney- other than at Rainforest Cafe.  (Shock!  Awe!)  I guess I've never really thought about it.  I'm too busy running around the parks and going on rides.  That's definitely a personal goal of mine this trip.  We're having a meet and greet at one of the bars over at Boardwalk.  A few of the girls also offered to take me out after hearing about the fire.  Plus, the Food and Wine Festival is going on at Epcot.  This should be an easy goal to cross off the list!

Speaking of goals, maybe I'll make a list of goals to accomplish for this trip?  I made a list of Disney Goals for the 2014 year.  Maybe I need to make a list of goals for this particular trip, especially since I'll be there by myself?  I can do what I want, whenever I want to! Hmm, making goals for my trip would probably be a good way to keep myself focused on the non-conference days.

I'm starting to get really excited about Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!  I've seen so many pictures and videos in my Facebook Newsfeed.  I absolutely love the Halloween Party!  I'm still working out what I'm going to wear.  I think I'm going to opt for the t-shirt and crazy socks combo that I wore back in 2012 after our Disney Wedding.  However, I've got a few new ideas to spice it up a little bit!

I'm not sure what the next few days, weeks and months are going to look like but I'm going to "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming."  I have a lot of good things to look forward to: a new job, my birthday, the holidays and one month until my trip.  I'm excited.

I can't wait to be "home" again!!!  °o°

Out with the Old, In with the New!

The past few weeks have been pretty busy around here.  Kids have gone back to school, fall is slowly gearing up here in Maine, and the season of change is upon us.  Eliot and I have been gearing up for a few changes of our own.

After many months of me working out of our home, I have accepted a part time position elsewhere.  I'm still very invested in my blog and other business endeavors, but this opportunity was too good to pass up!  I've been away from my blog the past two weeks as I've been getting things in order for this new chapter of our lives.  (I've been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing the house!)  Hopefully over this week things will start to fall back into a rhythm!  Out with the old and in with the new!

We've been taking advantage of the last of the summer weather.  Eliot and I have been going to Splashtown often over the past few weekends.  Sadly, today was the last day Funtown Splashtown was open and it was too cold for swimming.  We're looking forward to next summer and getting our season passes when they first open the park!

Last weekend my parents, Nana and Papa came down to visit.  We've went to Old Orchard Beach for some Pier Fries.  We also went out to dinner to celebrate my new job!

I've been busy working on Happily Ever Hatter orders.  There's a lot of things going on behind the scenes.  I'm planning to share some of those things with you all soon!  I'm also gearing up for the holiday season!  I've had a few orders for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and I'm sure I'll have some for Christmas right around the corner!

I've also booked my room at Pop Century for KeyCon!  I'm so excited!  After making my room reservation the other day, I customized my first MagicBand!  Of course, it's pink!!!

Finally, football is back and with that many New England Patriots games to watch!  Eliot and I went to my cousin's house to watch the game this afternoon.  I can't complain about the good company, good food and good fun!  (I can complain that it wasn't a very good game for us... ugh Pats.)  Eeyore's not quite ready to say goodbye to summer so he still has his swimsuit on; but he is ready to say hello to football season!  Go Patriots!!

Here's to a season of change, new beginnings and another new chapter!  °o°
